Procrastinate on Purpose by Rory Vaden
Most of us think of procrastinating as a bad thing. In this book, Vaden gives a different perspective on procrastination and shows how it can actually be used to your advantage.
He explains how you can create more time and actually multiply the hours in your days. With Vaden’s techniques, you’ll find that you even have time to spare!
Take the Stairs by Rory Vaden
This is another of our favorites by Rory Vaden. In this book, Vaden presents a program for resisting “quick fixes” in favor of tackling problems head-on. He teaches how self-discipline is the key to success, and that it probably isn’t as hard as you think.
Successful people have trained their brains to think differently about self-discipline. These people make everyday, seemingly insignificant choices that over time build a life of freedom and success.
Instead of taking the easy route, Vaden takes the rewarding route—one stair at a time!
The Motive by Patrick Lencioni
This book on leadership is a bit different than others you may have read. Instead of focusing on how to become a leader, Lencioni focuses on why you’re a leader in the first place. He helps readers honestly assess themselves and their leadership.
This different perspective about “ why leadership” will cause you to think, reevaluate, and take action. You’ll likely change your approach to leadership and avoid pitfalls in your organization and relationships.
Business Made Simple by Donald Miller
This is one of our favorite books, and one that has been transformative for Lifedge. Even those who have attended business school often feel lost and confused in the world of business. In these daily entries, Donald Miller shares simple, yet effective secrets for running a successful business. This sixty-day guide is sure to give you new insight for how to achieve your goals and beyond in your business.
Start With Why by Simon Sinek
This book, which aligns with Sinek’s popular TED Talk, directs you to focus in on the “whys” of what you’re doing. Sinek uses examples of some of the greatest leaders in the world, who are all very similar in the way they think, act, and communicate. While any organization can explain what it does, only some can explain how they do it, and even fewer can communicate WHY. Sinek encourages his readers that great leaders don’t manipulate, they inspire.
Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek
Another of our favorites also comes from Simon Sinek. The name for this book evolved from a conversation Sinek had with a Marine Corps general. If you were a bug on the wall of a Marine mess hall, you’d notice that the junior officers eat first, which the senior Marines wait until last. This is very symbolic of the way that great leaders sacrifice for those under their care.
Being a good leader is not necessarily determined by how successful your company is or about how much money you make, but about HOW you achieve those results.
Be Like Amazon: Even a Lemonade Stand Can Do It by Jeffrey Eisenberg, Bryan Eisenberg, and Roy H. Williams
Though the title of this book may make it sound unrelatable, it’s truly such a resource to any business—from Amazon to a lemonade stand. The authors focus on the principles of the most successful brands in the world and find that success has much to do with relationships. In general, putting people first will give more results than simply cutting costs.
Join along in this conversation as an older mentor and his young mentee take a road trip and share these engaging thoughts. And be like Amazon!
