Start early.
Many studies show that those who go to bed early and wake up early tend to be more productive each day. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, wakes up before 4am each morning to get started on his day. He starts by reading emails from Apple users, followed by a workout at a private gym. After this, he enjoys a cup of coffee at Starbucks before heading to the Apple Park.
Take a cold shower.
Cold water gives your body a natural energy boost, increases circulation, and supports healthy hair and skin. Starting your summer mornings with a cold shower will leave you feeling fresh and ready for the day ahead.
Plan your day.
Start your day by taking a look at your goals and expectations for the day. Think about your priorities and what you need to accomplish most. Set realistic goals for yourself so you don’t get overwhelmed. For best results, plan your day the night before. Then, you can use the morning to remind yourself of your goals for the day. Whether a busy CEO, college student, or stay-at-home mom, planning your day in advance sets the tone and flow of your day and increases productivity.
Drink water first.
Coffee is the highlight of the morning for many people—we get it! However, consider consuming a glass of water before you start sipping your morning joe. Water jumpstarts your system and hydrates you after 8 hours of no (or little) hydration. It gives you a natural energy boost right away and helps you focus. Drinking coffee first thing in the morning without water can dehydrate the body and irritate the stomach lining. Add a spritz of lemon to your water for a powerful antioxidant boost!
Eat a healthy breakfast.
Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day! As tempting as it can be to jump into the day ahead, making time for a healthy breakfast will ultimately boost your productivity. Try baked oatmeal, yogurt with fruit, eggs with vegetables, or healthy muffins. Here are 25 healthy and delicious breakfast ideas to get you started.
Get outside.
Take advantage of the warm summer mornings by getting some fresh air right away. Everyone knows the benefits of moving your body in the morning. Why not increase the benefits by getting some fresh air in your lungs at the same time? Instead of paying for your summer gym membership, get outside in your own yard or neighborhood. Walk the dog, go for a run or bike ride, or kneel down in the dirt and work in your garden.
A little each day turns into a lot.
No matter your morning routine, remember that consistency is key. Whether you feel like you accomplished much or little at the end of the day, what matters most is that you took steps toward your goal.
As Robert Collier said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” Your routines are what will get you to your goals, even though some days, you may only move forward one tiny step.
Your morning jump-starts your daily productivity.
The morning is where it all starts! We hope these tips help you have an effective morning routine that will set your summer days up for success!
